What is your design style, and how do you incorporate it within your home?

My design style is far from a specific category. I like to mix and match styles. Right now, our home has a mix of traditional, farmhouse, Mid Century Modern, and vintage styles. That sounds like a lot, but it can work when done with enough consistency throughout the home. When choosing the decor’s bones like countertops, cabinets, sofas, etc., I usually stick to very clean, neutral, traditional choices that will hopefully stand the test of time. I like to add more fun with on-trend colors and styles when it comes to smaller accent furniture, wall decor, and small decor.

Where do you find design inspiration?

It comes from all over- original ideas, online, real-world, and print.

When starting a design project, how do you organize and plan for it?

When I get an idea for something, I start doing a bit of research online to visualize it. That can help a lot to gather your thoughts. Pinterest is excellent for collecting ideas all in one place. Then I usually start sketching it out on paper. Drawing it out gives the plan clarity.

How long did this project take to complete?

This makeover was fun and quick because the hutch had been refinished the year before. I had just used some hardware that I had on hand when I previously refinished it. When I was introduced to Nostalgic Warehouse, I knew the hutch could be elevated much more by adding new hardware. It was easily done in an afternoon.

How did you choose the hardware featured in this project? What attracted you to Nostalgic Warehouse?

We had recently renovated our kitchen using chrome hardware, so I wanted the new hutch hardware to complement that. As for the styles, I fell in love with the Baguette Crystal Cabinet Knobs right away. They are so elegant and add such a subtle but luxurious touch. The rounded tops of the chrome Meadows Cup Pulls play off of the details in the hutch doors. I love how simple they are in comparison to the knobs. It really lets the knobs stand out. The chrome pulls also add their version of sparkle to the hutch when the light hits them.

I found Nostalgic Warehouse through Instagram and immediately loved the level of detail each of their designs have. They have a variety of choices, whether you want extra ornate or clean, simple lines. Their products can really be incorporated into any design plan.

Will you use this hardware again in other projects/areas of your home?

Yes, I would love to use Nostalgic Warehouse again in our home. We have a fixer-upper, and adding quality hardware from Nostalgic Warehouse or other Regal Brands companies would really enhance an update or renovation. It’s the icing on the cake.

What are some tips for readers who want to make a small transformation in their home?

You can start with something small like an old cabinet, powder room, or hutch. By painting or refinishing and then adding some updated hardware, you can give a room new life without breaking the bank or taking months to complete.

I started my Lake House Life account as a hobby to share my love of decor, DIY, and some upcoming renovations to our newly purchased home. I wanted a space where I could post about painting a wall or vanity and have a community of people who would get as excited about the change as I was. I didn’t even think about how it would turn into a space that could inspire others to do what I was doing or to empower someone to pick up a power tool or paintbrush for the first time and tackle a project on their own. This is now my favorite part of this account- sharing a project and having someone tell me they followed my steps to update their own home! I am not a professional, but I do have a lot of fun fixing our house and making it more and more our home.
